Why Is WWE Spoiling Their Own Shows? (Alberto Del Rio, Brock Lesnar, Ric Flair)

News, Top Story

According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE is using different methods to act as spoilers / foreshadowing hints for their own shows. For example, yesterday on Twitter, a backstage picture of Brock Lesnar was Tweeted by WWE before he came out on Raw. The Observer reports that WWE is doing things like this on purpose so that people on Twitter and Facebook can tell their friends to tune in for these big / surprise moments. Of course, WWE also caused some controversy by using a similar tactic a few weeks ago when they spoiled Alberto Del Rio’s World Heavyweight Championship title win over Big Show by posting the story and a photo of Del Rio with the Big Gold Belt on WWE.com on the Tuesday night of the SmackDown tapings rather than waiting for the show to air on Friday.
