Our final award for the inaugural TOY FAIR AWARDS is Best Toyline.
There were many lines that could easily be featured here. Despite it’s initial rough start, McFarlane’s The Walking Dead has never looked better. Hasbro’s Star Wars: Black holds the honor of having the winner of Best Action Figure. And I give a nod to Mattel for even making a series of figures based on The Watchmen.
However, none of these come close to the work that Playmates Toys has done on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They have been extremely successful in the past 6 months with the launch of the new cartoon on Nickelodeon, and the launch of the brand new toys. This line has it all. They have new figures on a consistent bases, a glorious ‘Classic’ line, vehicles that (for the most part) make sense, and an amazing Sewer Lair Playset that will be the benchmark for playsets for years to come.
