A lightweight scrap between two strikers has been added to UFC 160 as Donald Cerrone (19-5 1 NC, 6-2 UFC) will welcome K.J. Noons (11-6, 0-0 UFC) to the UFC at the Memorial Day Weekend event. The booking was reported on UFC Tonight on Tuesday night.
Both men are coming off losses in their last fights. Cerrone suffered the first knockout loss of his career last month at UFC On FOX 6 when he was defeated by Anthony Pettis in what was touted as a title eliminator. That ended Cerrone’s two-fight win streak and knocks him back down the ladder as he looks to secure a UFC lightweight title shot. Cerrone was ranked number six in the last UFC fighter rankings at 155 pounds.
Noons enters the UFC from Strikeforce in desperate need of a win. Noons last fought last month at Strikeforce’s final event, dropping a highly-debated decision to Ryan Couture. Noons is just 1-4 over his last five fights. The former EliteXC Lightweight Champion last won in December 2011 over Billy Evangelista, his lone win in two-and-a-half years.
UFC 160 takes place on May 25 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The night’s main card airs on pay-per-view while the preliminary card takes place on FX and Facebook.
