10 Thoughts on TNA Impact Wrestling! – 03.07.2013 (Aces and Eights vs Team TNA Best of 3 Series, Lockdown Build)

Columns, Top Story

Welcome to 10 Thoughts on TNA Impact! Last week Angle saw the face of the VP of the Aces and Eights and this week we get to find out! Let’s get this started…

1. Austin Aries vs Jeff Hardy? What a great match to open the final show in the Impact Zone! I loved Aries getting impatient and jumping Jeff before the match and throwing Jeff’s custom belt to the floor. One thing to note is how tall Jeff Hardy looks next to Austin Aries. In WWE, Jeff Hardy is an average to short wrestler, but, in TNA or the Indies, Jeff looks really tall. Just a weird way to see the difference between the typical WWE wrestler and the typical Indy wrestler. And a good DQ win at the end to ensure neither combatant loses momentum running into the PPV.

2. I liked Matt Morgan destroying Jeff with the Carbon Footprint, but Bully Ray defending Jeff Hardy all the time is rather ridiculous. I get he has to keep face, but why put him in these positions to save him? Like in WWE we have The Rock vs John Cena and they’re both faces, but we don’t have The Rock coming down and fighting The Shield off of John Cena. Why not just have these two have confrontations without one saving the other?

3. D’Lo Brown is the VP of the Aces and Eights… Wow. He… wow. Just when I thought the group couldn’t do any worse, they pull in an old Nation of Domination member for their big ‘reveal.’ They would’ve been better to go with Joseph Parks. D’Lo Brown. Does he even still wrestle? I guess we’ll find out.

4. Sting is fighting tonight? That’s how you know that tonight is a big night. Sting vs. Devon for the advantage in Lethal Lockdown. Whoa! I don’t know if that fan throwing beer in the face of Sting was staged, but it looked legitimate! Bravo on that! Security pulled him out of there awfully quick. Good move there.

5. I have a question. Why is Devon still the TNA Television Championship? He’s the head of the Aces and Eights! And since the Aces and Eights aren’t a Nexus-type group where they are comprised of entirely rookies, the leader of the group should NOT have the lowest ranked belt in the company. Either get rid of the TV title altogether or have him give the belt to Wes Briscoe or Knox. Someone who actually could use it. Devon is the leader and should be going for the heavyweight championship despite how ridiculous that sounds.

6. So Gail Kim is undefeated at Lockdown? Announcing that is almost a give-away that Velvet Sky will win. After all, Undertaker is the only one who gets to say he’s undefeated at an event and actually remain that way afterwards. Not to mention that Gail Kim got the pin in the 6 man tag match with Daniels and Kaz against Velvet, Hernandez, and Chavo.

7. Not a bad match between the team of Samoa Joe and Magnus against DOC and Garrett Bischoff. Joe and Magnus showed some chemistry and Garrett continued to look like the worst wrestler on the roster. Not much to note on this match.

8. The way in which Iveliesse looked scornful to have been cut, and the way in which Tazz was all over the judges for eliminating her makes me believe that she may resurface in the Aces and Eights. They don’t have a Knockout in their ranks and now D’Lo can recruit her since he’s an inside man.

9. Anderson defeats James Storm to get the advantage at the PPV. It only makes sense for the heels to have the advantage so no surprise. But it is a surprise that it’s James Storm who does the job. Remember when he was the top guy in the business? He really got lost in the fold didn’t he?

10. Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy continue to talk about how each other is fantastic. Tazz was right about wanting to puke from all of the ass-kissing. Why does Hulk Hogan need to come out here during this meeting? It’s just not necessary.

Altogether a great final show in the Impact Zone and great send-off show into the PPV this Sunday. Thanks for reading!

And quite frankly my dear… that’s a wrap.
