Chris Leben vs. Andrew Craig targeted for UFC 162

News

A middleweight bout has been added to July’s UFC 162 event as Chris Leben (22-9, 12-8 UFC) will take on Andrew Craig (8-1, 2-1 UFC) at the July 6th event in Las Vegas. MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani reported the fight on Tuesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight” on FUEL TV.

Leben looks to end a two-fight skid. He most recently competed at UFC 155 in December where he dropped a decision to Derek Brunson in his return from a 13-month layoff due to a drug suspension. Leben is just 1-3 over his last four fights which came following a resurgent three-fight win streak that included two wins in two weeks over Aaron Simpson and Yoshihiro Akiyama in the summer of 2010.

Craig makes his fourth appearance in the octagon as he looks to rebound from his first career loss to Ronny Markes at UFC On FX 7 in January. That ended Craig’s eight-fight win streak that started his career. Craig scored an upset over Kyle Noke in his UFC debut and followed that with a highlight-reel knockout win over Rafael Natal.

UFC 162 takes place on July 6 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The night’s main card airs on pay-per-view while prelims take place on FX and Facebook. It is currently unknown where the Leben vs. Craig fight is slotted on the card.

Long-time UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva puts the title on the line against top contender Chris Weidman in the night’s main event.
