Dennis Bermudez and Max Holloway to square off at UFC 160

News

A pair of rising featherweight fighters on win streaks will square off at the UFC’s traditional Memorial Day Weekend pay-per-view event as Dennis Bermudez (10-3, 3-1 UFC) will take on Max Holloway (7-1, 3-1 UFC) at UFC 160. UFC officials confirmed the bout on Wednesday night.

Bermudez competed on season 14 of “The Ultimate Fighter”, advancing to the finals against Diego Brandao. Bermudez fell to Brandao at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale, but he has since racked up three straight wins. He defeated Pablo Garza at UFC On FOX 3 in May to begin the streak, and followed that with wins over Tommy Hayden at UFC 150 in August and Matt Grice at UFC 157 in February, a fight which is in the early running for 2013’s “Fight Of The Year”.

Holloway is the youngest fighter on the UFC’s roster, and he has just one blemish in his career- a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 143 in February 2012, a fight he took on very short notice. He has since scored wins over Pat Schilling, Justin Lawrence, and, most recently, over Leonard Garcia at UFC 155 in December.

UFC 160 takes place on May 25 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The night’s main card airs on pay-per-view while the preliminary card airs on FX and Facebook. UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez will defend the title against Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva in the night’s main event.

The current UFC 160 card includes:

  • Cain Velasquez(c) vs. Antonio Silva (UFC Heavyweight Championship)
  • Junior Dos Santos vs. Mark Hunt
  • Glover Teixeira vs. James Te Huna
  • Gray Maynard vs. T.J. Grant
  • Donald Cerrone vs. K.J. Noons
  • Mike Pyle vs. Gunnar Nelson
  • Amir Sadollah vs. Stephen Thompson
  • Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Abel Trujillo
  • Dennis Bermudez vs. Max Holloway
