Hines Ward is facing his biggest challenge to date: completing the Kona Ironman. Here we have the debut episode of the BECOME ONE documentary series, where Ward begins his initial training sessions with legendary athlete and eight-time IRONMAN World Champaion, Paula Newby-Fraser.

On day one, Paula sends Hines swimming, running, and peddling through his new exercise regime. Ward grapples with the complexities of learning three new athletic disciplines, but understands with practice
and time he’ll overcome the learning curve. The first workout on the schedule, swimming, was an unfamiliar one for Ward. In a modest aquatic center in Atlanta, Georgia, Hines began building his water endurance, which Paula stresses will be an important pace-setting course for the Ironman.

In between workouts, Ward refuels with chocolate milk. Studies have shown that drinking low-fat chocolate milk leads to a greater replenishment of glycogen (a principal storage carbohydrate) to muscles post-workout.
