Melvin Guillard vs. Mac Danzig slated for UFC On FOX 8

News

The UFC’s return trip to Seattle in July for UFC On FOX 8 now has a fight booked for the card. Lightweights Melvin Guillard (30-12-2 1 NC, 11-8 UFC) and Mac Danzig (21-10-1, 5-6 UFC) will square off as both look to bounce back from losses. UFC officials announced the fight on Wednesday.

Guillard looks to rebound from two straight losses. He was last seen in action in December at UFC 155 where he dropped a decision to Jamie Varner. He has just one win over his last five fights, a decision win over Fabricio Camoes at UFC 148 in July. He has also dropped fights to Joe Lauzon, Jim Miller and Donald Cerrone during his recent rough patch, which came following a five-fight win streak that put Guillard in the lightweight title picture.

Guillard has recently been in the news to a switch in training camps. He famously left the Greg Jackson/Mike Winklejohn camp in favor of training with the Blackzilians in Florida. He has now relocated from Florida to the Grudge Training Center in Colorado, headed by trainer Trevor Wittman.

Danzig is a former winner of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ as he won season six by submitting Tommy Speer in December 2007. He has since struggled inside the octagon, scoring just four wins in ten fights. He last fought in November at UFC On FUEL TV 6, where he dropped a close split decision to Takanori Gomi in that night’s ‘Fight Of The Night’. Danzig has scored UFC wins over Joe Stevenson, Mark Bocek, Efrain Escudero and Justin Buchholz.

UFC On FOX 8 takes place on July 27 from the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington. The night’s main card airs on FOX with prelims airing on FX and Facebook. More fights are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
