Why Were Backstage Skits, “America The Beautiful”, the 8-person Tag Match and Other WrestleMania-Like “Touches” Cut from the Big Show?

News

The reason that WrestleMania 29 was lacking some of the fine touches normally associated with the biggest show of the year is because WWE officials thought they were just too tight on time and they wanted the big three main event matches to have their stories told as fully as was planned beforehand. This meant that “America The Beautiful”, some backstage skits, celebrity appearances and the 8-person tag match of Team Rhodes Scholars and the Bella Twins vs. Tons of Funk and the Funkadactyls were all cut as a result.

CB’s Slant: Some easy solutions here. You had a ONE HOUR Pre Show where you could have had both the Miz-Barrett match and the 8-person mixed tag, you know, instead of endless video packages that ALSO AIRED ON THE SHOW. You could have still had “America The Beautiful” performed and simply cut 3 minutes off of P. DIDDY’S MEDLEY.

And of course, you could have not aired EVEN MORE video packages during the show and instead made room for some of those backstage skits.
