Cannes Trailer For Nicolas Winding-Refn’s Only God Forgives

For those who believed themselves duped that Drive was going to be a Fast and Furious clone, well it looks like director Nicholas Winding-Refn’s next effort, Only God Forgives, will be even more polarizing for audiences.

The director has once again paired with Ryan Gosling in making a Bangkok-set criminal underworld pic with lots of artfully done violence and bloodshed. Much like Albert Brooks in Drive it looks like Kristin Scott Thomas has a meaty role as Gosling’s mother, head of a criminal organization.

Only God Forgives is in competition at the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival and it will later have a small theatrical/VOD release beginning July 2013.
