Nick Catone vs. James Head Scratched from UFC 159

News

A bout between Nick Catone (9-4, 3-4 UFC) and James Head (9-3, 2-2 UFC) scheduled for today’s UFC 159 event has been scratched from the card due a trip to the hospital to treat dehydration for Catone. UFC officials announced the scratch on Saturday morning.

The event will now proceed with 11 bouts. Catone vs. Head was scheduled for the Facebook preliminary card, which will now feature just two fights- Steven Siler vs. Kurt Holobaugh and Leonard Garcia vs. Cody McKenzie. The start time for the event has also been pushed back to approximately 7 PM eastern time.

Catone missed weight for the bout. It was scheduled to be a welterweight bout, but Catone came in two pounds over the limit, weighing in at 173 pounds, and he was fined 20 percent of his purse. Head will be paid his show money due to the cancellation and both men will likely be moved to an upcoming card. Both men were looking to get back into the win column after losses in their most previous bouts.
