I would like to take a moment to congratulate Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer for getting an awesome spotlight article in The New York Times. The article, entitled “In World of Wrestling, Trying to Keep It Real”, focuses on Meltzer’s path to the pinnacle of pro wrestling reporting, and includes what might be the highest compliment one could receive from long-time Sports Illustrated reporter Frank Deford:
“You could cover the Vatican or State Department … and not do as good a job as Dave Meltzer does on wrestling.”
The article states that at 25,000 words per issue, Meltzer has likely written more than 33 million words on wrestling in his career.
