Carlos Condit vs. Martin Kampmann rematch to main event UFC On FOX Sports 1 #2

News

Carlos Condit stepped foot inside the Octagon a little over four years ago for the first time to take on Martin Kampmann in the main event of UFC Fight Night 18. A back-and-forth three-round fight occurred that ended with Kampmann taking a split decision victory home in a fight many thought could have gone to either fighter.

In August, Condit (28-7, 5-3 UFC) and Kampmann (20-6, 11-5 UFC) will step inside the Octagon together once again when they meet in a rematch. This time it will be five rounds as they headline the second fight card on FOX Sports 1, which takes place on August 28 from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

FOXSports.com reported the booking on Friday.

Condit looks to bounce back from two straight losses. He won five straight following his loss to Kampmann, capping the win streak off by defeating Nick Diaz to win the Interim UFC Welterweight Championship. Condit lost the unification bout to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 154 in November, and then dropped a decision to Johny Hendricks at UFC 158 in March. Condit has never lost more than two fights in a row in his 35-fight career.

Kampmann is looking to rebound from a loss to Hendricks as well. Hendricks knocked him out in just 46 seconds at UFC 154 in November. Kampmann had won three straight fights prior to that loss, scoring wins over Rick Story, Thiago Alves and Jake Ellenberger.

Tickets for UFC On FOX Sports 1 #2 go on sale on June 14. Additional bouts are expected to be announced shortly.
