XFC 24 provides perfect platform for Luis Santos to stake claim for welterweight title shot

Brazilian MMA veteran Luis ‘Sapo’ Santos returns to XFC’s latest foray this Friday, June 14, at XFC 24, as he steps back into the cage against recent acquisition Dave ‘Insane’ Courchaine.

Since his release from Bellator, Santos has looked extremely impressive and will look to continue his winning streak following stoppages of Sebastian Latorre and former UFC and TUF competitor Shamar Bailey who he demolished back at XFC 23.

With an official record of fifty-six wins, nine losses and one draw it is fair to say that at thirty three years old ‘Sapo’ has had a long and eventful career, yet championship gold has so far continued to elude the wily American Top Team representative.

Having fought for a myriad of different promotions both in his native Brazil and here in the U.S. Santos will look to showcase his diverse and rounded skill-set against the lesser known Washington native Courchaine who has the opportunity to make a real impact upon his XFC debut following an eight fight win streak on the regional MMA circuit.

The winner of this contest looks set to challenge for the XFC welterweight title at the year-ending Night of Champions event and XFC President John Prisco shared his thoughts on Luis Santos and this upcoming fight with Courchaine: “Having a guy like Santos, who competes at such a high level, on your roster is a pleasure for a matchmaker and promoter.  I am looking to find the toughest guys out there. I want to put on great fights for our fans, and having Santos on our roster gives me the opportunity to go out and find the best available guys in that weight class to compete with him.  I feel I have done that with David. Expect fireworks in Tampa on June 14th, this fight could easily go either way.
