Early Box Office Numbers Revealed – Man of Steel Poised For Record Breaking Weekend For Superman After $21 Million Midnight Open

Box Office, News, Top Story

So far so good for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, which has reportedly opened with a $21 million box office from Thursday night alone.

Deadline is reporting this, of course, as the film has apparently crossed $21 million via $9million in midnight showings as well as $12 million in corporate group sale screening programing at 7pm last night. It marks the highest box office opener for a superhero film, besting last year’s The Avengers which opened at $18.5 million Thursday night en route to a $200 million opening.

Man of Steel is opening to a near record 4,207 screens and mostly strong reviews so far. You can read Travis’s review right here for his take on the film.

The Pulse: A good marketing campaign and near universally strong reviews have pushed Man of Steel into being perhaps the summer’s can’t miss film. Where will it wind up, opening weekend wise? We don’t know yet. My guess is that it could come close to, if not breaking, The Avengers total when all is said and done. Let us know below what you think.
