Rumor Mill Churns – Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman Rematch For Super Bowl Card?

News

After his loss to Chris Weidman at UFC 162 Anderson Silva declared publicly that he was done fighting for the UFC middleweight title. According to multiple outlets the fight is going to happen within the next six months or so.

It’s been rumored to be on a number of cards. The most prevalent is on Super Bowl weekend 2014, which has been rumored for New Jersey to coincide with Super Bowl XLVIII, which is being held in New Jersey as well.

The other rumor has it being placed on UFC 168, replacing Tate/Rousey 2 as the main event and pushing the woman’s bantamweight fight to co-main event status.

Kubryk’s take – Weidman/Silva 2 is going to be a bigger fight because of Weidman’s shocking victory, of course, and placing it on Rousey/Tate 2 would be an interesting pick. The one Will Cooling came up with Twitter might be the most interesting one: UFC 167. That’s being headlined by GSP/Hendricks and is doubling as the UFC’s 20th anniversary show. If the UFC really wants to blow up coverage on it then it could be something that could happen.
