Former WWE Star Lands Leading Role In New F/X Series

News

Robert Maillet, the man who played The Interrogator & Kurrgan of the Oddities during the “Attitude Era” of the WWE, has been signed to play the central villain called “The Master” in the planned F/X series adaption of “The Strain” horror novel trilogy.

Famed director & co-author of “The Strain” trilogy, Guillermo Del Toro, is overseeing the series & had cast Maillet in his film “Pacific Rim”. According to reports, Maillet received the offer to play the lead role of The Master because of his work with Del Toro in the film. “The Strain” follows a scientist who has discovered a vampire-type plague that has begun to affect the city of Manhattan and spreads across the world.

Harrak’s Hit: As a fan of the series, I expected it was only a matter of time before they were made into a film or TV series. I’m a little surprised by Maillet’s casting since “The Master” changes his form rather quickly to someone VERY unlike Maillet but there are plenty of flashback opportunities for Maillet to become a series regular. The show should do well… as long as they never get to the story’s climax in the last book but that’s just my opinion.
