Disc Announcements

Has it really been twenty years since the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers exploded on afternoon TV? The show became an instant hit. Parents spent small fortunes trying to get the dolls that became extremely rare for the Christmas of 1993. Many people felt they’d be a fad, but the series had extreme staying power. It’s still on the air. Power Rangers Legacy: The First 20 Years brings together all the goodness along with hours of bonus features. To make things more exciting the massive collection is inside a Power Ranger helmet. Here’s the press release from Shout! Factory:

Power Rangers Legacy

Following its debut in 1993, Saban’s iconic live-action pop culture franchise, Power Rangers quickly became the most watched children’s television program in North America. Emphasizing the importance of teamwork, responsibility and helping others by following the adventures of a group of ordinary young people who “morphed” into superheroes, this long-running series has been seen in more than 150 countries, translated into numerous languages, and remains a mainstay in children’s programming blocks. For 20 years, the highly entertaining saga and fan favorite characters from Power Rangers have captivated children and adults alike and are beloved by legions of fans worldwide.

In celebration of this multi-generational pop culture phenomenon, Shout! Factory, in collaboration with Saban Brands, is proud to announce the ultimate Power Rangers collection, Power Rangers Legacy: The First 20 Years. Spanning the first 20 seasons of the Power Rangers television series, this limited edition home entertainment collection features every Power Rangers episode, from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to Power Rangers Megaforce, boasting over 270 hours of action-packed entertainment across 98 DVDs. Housed in a collectible Red Ranger helmet, Power Rangers Legacy: The First 20 Years includes six DVDs spotlighting hours of bonus content, including brand-new featurettes as well as special archival material.

A must-have for the most dedicated Power Ranger fans, Power Rangers Legacy: The First 20 Years will return to where the phenomenon began and re-live the thrill-packed adventures when released on December 3, 2013.

For those wanting a Power Rangers fix right now, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Season 3 is out. This was pretty much the end of the original run. Pink Power Ranger Kimberly (Amy Jo Johnson) moves to Florida to pursue her gymnastics dream. This means Katherine (Catherine Sutherland) gets the pink identity. The big thing is that Bulk and Skull (Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy) want to be cops. They give up trying to unmask the Power Rangers. They’re gonna fight evil with a badge and gun. But does that matter since Rita Repulsa’s father Master Vile and brother Rito Revolto have arrived with more schemes for world domination. These would be the last 33 episodes of the series before it would morph into Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers.

Shout! Factory presents Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Season 3. Starring: Amy Jo Johnson, David Yost, Johnny Yong Bosch, Karan Ashley, Steve Cardenas, Jason David Frank, Jason Narvy and Paul Schrier. Boxset contents: 33 episodes on 4 DVDs. Released: July 2, 2013. Available at Amazon.com.
