Tonight, it’s finally time for WWE SummerSlam 2013. To get you prepped and ready for the big show, I’ve gathered all of our SummerSlam-related links and put them below so you can access them all in one place.
Also, I’d like to pose one final question for you, our Inside Pulse Wrestling faithful, and give my own final take on SummerSlam just hours before the first bell rings on WWE’s YouTube kickoff.
Lastly, make sure to follow @PulseWrestling on Twitter for live SummerSlam tweets from Matthew Harrak, and check back right here at Inside Pulse Wrestling later on for our own live SummerSlam recap and additional coverage.
So, let’s do the links first, followed by my question to you, and then my one final thought:
Pulse Wrestling SummerSlam Links Roundup
Rasslin’ Roundtable: SummerSlam 2013 – featuring some great banter from the Pulse Wrestling staff and Chris Sanders’ most shameless podcast plug yet! I forgive him though, for his “Sheamus Constant” callout is amazing. You have to read through it to find it.
The View From Down Here – Ghost of SummerSlams’ Past – Authored by Steven Gepp, this is my personal pick for best SummerSlam column of the whole lot this year. It is truly worth the read and definitely deserves to be commented on.
HTC Wrestling Pulsecast – SummerSlam Predictions and more from Matthew Harrak and company.
Classy Ring Attire – SummerSlam edition with Joel Leonard and his merry band of RAGING misfits.
The RAGER – Summer Spectacular – Join Chris Sanders as he previews the SummerSlam card and provides his own breakdown for each match.
JC’s Top Rope Report – Top 25 SummerSlam Matches of All Time – Justin C. put together a great piece here, and one of my favorite matches of all-time easily made the cut. Here’s a hint: I saw it live, it featured a huge comeback, and involved a feud between two “degenerate” best friends.
CB Asks – SummerSlam Main Eventers’ Edition – featuring your own thoughts on the two main event matches on the top of the SummerSlam card. How did the Pulse readers book Punk-Lesnar and Bryan-Cena? Find out here.

One last question before SummerSlam
Okay, here it is:
With a solid build and two truly main event-worthy matches co-headlining the final SummerSlam card, this PPV seems like a slam dunk for WWE. The question is: What would have to happen for SummerSlam to be rendered a complete failure in YOUR eyes?

CB’s Slant: One Final SummerSlam Thought
For the past TWO years, I have been thoroughly disappointed by SummerSlam. Last year, I cited a lack of emotional investment in the main event of Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar as one of the key reasons why the show faltered. This year, however, Brock Lesnar is involved in a match with CM Punk that I feel 100% invested in, and I have a feeling that the emotions that pour out of this match from Lesnar, Punk and Paul Heyman will easily surpass last year’s passionless main event.
Speaking of main event matches packed with emotion and intrigue, John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan has all of the ingredients you’d need to make a successful show-closer. However, like last year’s Triple Threat between CM Punk, John Cena and Big Show, if this becomes a little too muddled up at the finish, then all of that good will WWE has built up with Bryan’s rise to the top and Cena’s inspired promo work will quickly dissipate.
At the end of tonight, I hope I can take SummerSlam out of the doghouse it has resided in for the past two years. I have a good feeling about this one, but I’ll have to see how it all plays out before rendering a final verdict.
That’s all from me — CB.
