Josh Koscheck and Tyron Woodley square off at UFC 167

Former title challengers Josh Koscheck (17-7, 15-7 UFC) and Tyron Woodley (11-2, 1-1 UFC) both look to get back into the win column when they return to the Octagon in November in a welterweight bout at UFC 167. UFC officials announced the fight on Thursday.

Koscheck, who once unsuccessfully challenged Georges St. Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Championship, will be looking to break a two-fight losing streak against Woodley. Koscheck dropped a decision to current top contender Johny Hendricks at UFC On FOX 3 in May 2012. After an injury kept him out for the rest of 2012, Koscheck was knocked out by Robbie Lawler at UFC 157 when he returned in February. Koscheck was slated to meet Demian Maia at UFC 163 earlier this month, but another injury forced him out of that fight. Overall, injuries have limited him to just three fights since his fight against St. Pierre in December 2010.

Woodley, who lost in a Strikeforce Welterweight Championship bout against Nate Marquardt in July 2012, quickly established himself as a UFC welterweight contender when he debuted with a 36-second knockout over Jay Hieron at UFC 156 in February. However, Woodley suffered his second career loss in his next bout when he dropped a controversial decision to Jake Shields at UFC 161 in June. Woodley and Koscheck were both All-American wrestlers in college.

UFC 167 will take place on Nov. 16 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will air on pay-per-view. UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre defends against Johny Hendricks in the night’s main event. Welterweight contenders Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler also meet on the fight card.
