CB’s Slant: All In on Paul Heyman’s Proposal to Ryback on Monday Night Raw

Columns, Top Story

Last Monday night on Raw 9/30/13, Paul Heyman proposed to that “big beautiful man” known as Ryback:

CB’s Slant: To me, this was absolutely brilliant because Paul Heyman just completely delivered with this promo like he has countless times in the past. The way he pronounced his man love for Ryback was just incredibly entertaining, and when he got down on one knee and took Ryback’s hand, it just made the whole thing even more outstanding in the way Heyman was selling this.

Putting all of that aside, another reason I just loved this segment is because it was a refreshing couple of minutes on Raw where I could actually get lost in the moment. When Heyman came out with Ryback and started talking like he did, I was just cracking up.

And, well, instead of looking ahead to what was going to happen, I simply enjoyed what was happening right at that very moment.

That sounds so easy to do but it seems to be a lost art these days, where WWE always wants us to look back at Moments Ago or check out their mobile app for what happened at commercial or tell us what’s trending on Twitter or remind us for the millionth time to buy Battleground this Sunday.

I’m just glad Paul Heyman was able to help me tune all of that out and remind me that sometimes Raw can still be fun to watch live every once in a big beautiful blue moon.

That’s all from me — CB.

Meanwhile, check out what Wrestling Facts has compiled for this week’s history lesson in what is a hilarious rundown.

I’d also like to welcome Chris Sanders’ prodigal son Jeff Heatherly and Gerald “Not Tom” Hanks to the Pulse Wrestling fold.

Oh, and RAGE ON, Sanders, RAGE ON.
