There are certain shows that I save on my DVR for weekend watching, or whenever I have some time after work during the week. I don’t always blog about them, but I quite liked Revenge, Nashville and Grey’s this week so I wanted to check in on them.
Revenge – “Sin”
YES! This was by far the best episode of the season for Revenge, and a sign that the show might just be finding its footing. Charlotte turning on Conrad, Emily realizing that not everyone deserves to be punished, and Aiden teaming up with Victoria made for a suspenseful, classic Revenge episode. I think this season will benefit from a tight timeline (only about two months) and Jack’s deadline. Emily’s now focused on rectifying her mistake with the priest, and using him to convince Conrad to confess – and I like that direction for the show. For the first time in a while, I’m looking forward to the next episode quite a bit.
Nashville – “I Don’t Wanna Talk About It Now”
I’m also happy with what Nashville is doing this season. I always hated Avery, thought him pointless once Scarlett dumped his sorry ass, and wanted him off the show. But he’s actually interesting as a new friend for Juliette, even if it is pretty obvious that it’ll eventually turn romantic. The drama with Edgehill records and Rayna’s new label is way more interesting than I expected it to be, and I hope that maaaaybe the result will be Juliette moving to Rayna’s label so she can try to make more mature music. I liked Deacon’s storyline too, since we could only watch him feel sorry for himself for so long. The only thing I don’t like is the Teddy storyline, with his fake-pregnant former mistress. It feels disconnected to everything else, and I hope it just fades into the background.
Grey’s Anatomy – “Puttin’ on the Ritz”
I liked how this episode reminded me of the old Grey’s. The prom, the sense of competition the doctors used to have. This was a fun episode, especially watching Cristina flirt her way to a giant donation and then walk off with the check, laughing. I even liked seeing Arizona and April get drunk together in the supply closet, and that was refreshing since they storylines have been huge downers this season, and pretty unsympathetic ones too. Also, the interns are really growing on me. I’ve finally stopped seeing Shane as Smash from FNL, and Stephanie’s relationship with Jackson has finally started to be interesting.
