I am a HUGE fan of Captain Marvel / Shazam. In the DC Comics New 52 the character is now simply “Shazam” and debuted in a co-feature of DC’s flagship title Justice League.
Writer Geoff Johns and artist Gary Franks Shazam opus was recently collected in hardcover format and I was able to pick it up. It was nice reading it front to back in one sitting. A nice surprise was at the back of the hardcover. We had over 12 images that were artist Gary Frank’s take on Shazam, the Shazam Family, Black Adam and the Shazam Wizards. Check them out the below!
Plus there are some other interesting images that follow them.
Since we’re going down memory lane, I have included below the first appearance of the Shazam Wizards council from FCBD a few years ago as well as some stunning art from the Geoff Johns / Gary Frank DC New 52 Shazam feature including the first introduction to Billy Batson, Shazam’s alter ego, his new foster brothers and sisters, and his nemesis and Forever Evil key player Black Adam.
I’m really hoping we get a new Shazam ongoing series in the DC Comics New 52. Afterall, DC Comics only has a New 44 – not 52 – ongoing series in January 2014. There’s room for a Shazam series on the docket!
