UFC Ultimate Fight Collection 2013

Do you want to have every DVD the UFC releases but don’t want to purchase them all individually? Then you’re luck, again, as the UFC has released their latest version of their “Ultimate Fight Collection” series.

Like the last two collections this is a series of individual releases put into one proper collection,

Starting with UFC 148: Silva vs Sonnen II on July 7, 2012 and covering every event until UFC 161: Evans vs Henderson on June 15, 2013, the collection has each full DVD release for your viewing. If you missed the last year of fighting and want to catch up with every major fight of note this is your collection. This isn’t the pay per view broadcast, of course, so you get the edited for release versions of each. Thus if you watched it live you’ll notice that none of the entrance music themes are included and some of the more awkward post fight interviews are taken out, as well as some behind the scenes footage is included as well.

That’s the one downside to the release, of course: it’s been edited out for copyright purposes but there’s something taken away when you eliminate some of the more awkward pauses. It’s like editing a film, I think, for a new version. It resembles it just enough but not quite if you remember the original clearly. My DVR’d copy of Sonnen/Jones at UFC 159 and the one in the set are close enough but profoundly different, of course, and if you missed it live you get the experience for the most part.

Like any UFC DVD box set there aren’t that many extras; this is mainly a box of fights for an entire year, nothing more. If you’re a hardcore fan but don’t want to buy each DVD this is the perfect set for you. If you want individual events then obviously it’s not.

The set is scheduled for release November 5, 2013
