Support Us & The Movember Charity

MovemberTimeline

As some of you know who follow my Twitter account (@MattHarrak), Instagram (MattHarrak) or Facebook (Guess…), over the last 4+ years I’ve been very involved with men’s health charity movement called “Movember”. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s simple really: by signing up you vow to shave your face clean on November 1st and proceed to grow a “Movemeber Moustache” while raising money for prostate cancer research.

I lost my grandparents very young. I barely remember the ones from my mother’s side and by the time I can remember by paternal grandfather, he couldn’t speak, eat or walk on his own. I was lucky enough to get 20 strong years with my paternal grandmother until we lost her to a long battle with breast cancer. There’s a long history in my family of dying young & I’ve really tried to turn that around. By working with Movember, I’ve been able to raise around $3,000 over the course of 3 years. Now I am in my 4th year as an active member and as grateful as I am to the donations we’ve already received, we’ve been stuck at just under $200 of our $1,000 goal. Why is it so important to reach $1,000? Well the company I work for employs a “gift matching” program for any approved charity if a minimum of $1,000 is raised. This is the first year Movember has been on the approved list of charities and for the last 3 months or so I’ve been looking at ways to hit that $1,000 mark so our donation would double!

Now I know money is a sensitive subject for everyone. It’s not easy to just part with cash for nothing, even if it is for a good cause. So with the last few weeks of November looming, I decided to up the ante a little. As you’ll see in the photo below, I’ve chosen a tradition Hogan-esque ‘Mo for this year’s drive. Well, if we’re able to reach our $1,000 goal, I’ve pledged to bleach, dye, train, say my prayers, eat my vitamins, find the best beard balm, use it religiously and turn this moustache into a TRUE white-blonde Hulk Hogan lip scarf! That means I’m going to work with a bleached blonde moustache. I’m going out with the kids with a bleached blonde moustache. I’m going to church with a bleached blonde moustache. And I may even be sporting a bleached blonde moustache for my daughter’s first Christmas!

But it all comes back to you. If you’d like to support this fantastic charity and the cause they are fighting for, go to http://mobro.co/MattHarrak and click the “Donate To Me” button on the right hand side of the page. They’ve even made it extremely simple by allowing donations through a click of a button with PayPal. So if you have a dollar to spare or more, please consider helping out some people who are truly in need. And who knows, HTC Wrestling & Inside Pulse might have their very own, albeit less tan, Hulk Hogan on their roster soon.

Thank you in advance and please feel free to contact me with any questions.
