Murtz On The Scene – The X Factor Results Finale – Exclusive Red Carpet Interview With Jeff Gutt

While Alex & Sierra became the heavy favorites to win The X Factor, after their especially strong cover of “Say Something,” Jeff Gutt certainly became a force to be reckoned with over the course of the competition.

Last night on the season finale of The X Factor, the Detroit rocker was announced as the runner-up as Alex & Sierra were named as the X Factor champions.

Gutt certainly had nothing to be ashamed of, as he left everything he had on The X Factor stage on Wednesday’s performance show.

His impressive covers of “Dream On,” “Creep” made him the crowd favorite, even if Alex & Sierra had the popular vote and the iTunes success and his duet with John Rzeznik was the best of the night.

For the results finale, Jeff performed alongside his competitors in a Top 13 cover of U2’s “One.”

From there, Jeff put his spin on a Christmas classic as he rocked out on “O Holy Night,” and proved that not winning the recording contract with Sony might actually be a blessing in disguise as he is now free to guide his career in any direction that he chooses.

I caught up with the singer after the show to discuss whether he was shocked by the result (especially after predicting that he would win after Wednesday’s show), if he took solace in the fact that he couldn’t have done anything more than what he did on Wednesday, if he liked the lasers that were used during his performance on Wednesday and what his favorite performance was during the season. He also previewed what his potential album might sound like.
