Dustin Poirier vs. Diego Brandao

This is at a catchweight (152) as Brandao came in significantly overweight.

Round 1: Poirier comes out with leg kicks as he’s looking to play the counter game with Brandao. Brandao is playing cautious right now. Brandao is looking to throw big overhands right now as Poirier is using his length to keep him at bay. Brandao is connecting but not flush. Both land body shots at the same time. Brandao is fighting on point right now; he’s losing the round but not by much. But he hasn’t emptied the gas tank yet, which is good. Big punch and Poirier is knocked down. Poirier back up and Brandao lets him back up. Clinch from Brandao and Poirier is taken down, back up quickly. Brandao gets another one shortly thereafter with a double and Poirier is back up quickly. Poirier pins Brandao against the cage and he’s teeing off on him right now. Brandao rolls for a desperation armbar and can’t finish it as Poirier pounds him out at 4:54 of the first round.
