DC Comics New 52 April 2014 Solicitations Titans Shake-Up: Nightwing Gets New Creative Team & Teen Titans Cancelled

News, Top Story

DC Comics is teasing there April 2014 DC New 52 soliciations expected next week by allowing bombshells to drop this week.

First, Comic Vine reports that Teen Titans is cancelled with April 2014’s Teen Titans #30. Writer Scott Lobdell will not be the writer for the teased relaunch of the franchise.

I’m thrilled the DC is letting me wrap up the story on a high note as the TEEN TITANS square off against the N.O.W.H.E.R.E. in a final battle — bringing to conclusion the conflict that began in the first issue!

Lobdell also teased he has a new project in the works, but it is not clear if that is with DC Comics or another publisher.

Also, former pre-New 52 founding Silver Age Teen Titans member Nightwing (formerly teen Batman sidekick Robin) gets a new writer and presumably creative team with April 2014’s Nightwing #30.

On his facebook page, writer Kyle Higgins announced his departure.

“It’s a weird feeling to leave the book after almost three years, and even though I would love nothing more than to write Dick Grayson for another fifty or sixty issues, it’s time to move on.”

I’ve enjoyed both series, but admittedly Teen Titans had more jarring moments.

I’m intrigued by what’s next for these two franchises and for these two writers. However, Kyle Higgins does have time now for his new creator-owned project from Image Comics called C.O.W.L. that’s had some awesome art released recently.
