Murtz On The Scene: Exclusive Interview With Sam Stout

Top Story, Video

Yesterday at the exclusive The Ultimate Fighter premiere party at Rogers Sportsnet in Toronto, I caught up with UFC fighter Sam Stout to get an update from him after his victory against Cody McKenzie last month. We chat

We chatted about a variety of topics as I began by asking him about his “Hands of Stone” nickname. In the aforementioned fight with McKenzie, Stout used a different style of attack and I asked him if it was better to play it safe in the Octagon to ensure winning on points (in the case of a split decision) or if being an exciting fighter (and potentially allowing yourself to be hit) was a better recipe for success.

With Georges St-Pierre taking a step back from the sport, I asked Stout if he felt like this would finally allow for other Canadian mixed martial artists to receive the attention that has typically been reserved only for GSP.

We finally discussed the mainstream appeal of The Ultimate Fighter.
