What has Vince done to the English language now?
In a story that is indicative of the obsessive nature of Vince McMahon’s control of WWE announcers, there is apparently a very specific way to approach the Royal Rumble.
The announcers are to use “Royal Rumble match” when talking about the 30 man, over-top-rope gauntlet battle royal.
For the WWE Royal Rumble 2014 PPV event itself, commentators are to say “Royal Rumble Pay Per View”.
Apparently Vince believes there would be confusion from fans between the event and the match, and wants the announcers to explicitly differentiate between the two.
