Laverne & Shirley Split Up With Final Season DVD Release

Disc Announcements, News

Laverne & Shirley: The Eighth and Final Season ends the tale of two women from Milwaukee who left for the sunny skies of Hollywood. The DVD boxset is scheduled for release on May 4, 2014. Laverne & Shirley‘s final season is noted for being more about Laverne with just a touch of Shirley. Off camera, Cindy Williams (Shirley) had become pregnant and had a list of changes for the show. The producers decided to just make her character vanish after the second episode. The show still was in the Top 25 without Shirley. ABC wanted a 9th season, but Penny Marshall (Laverne) wanted major changes. Thus it all came to an end on May 10, 1983. Here’s part of the press release from CBS DVD:
