CB’s Slant: Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Must-Listen Podcast Interview with WWE Theme Music Composer Jim Johnston

News, Top Story

On the 1/28 episode of the Stone Cold Steve Austin podcast, Austin conducted a lengthy interview with legendary WWE theme music composer Jim Johnston. Johnston has written, performed and produced at least 2500 compositions for WWE (and that’s a low-end figure), and the interview with Austin sheds some light onto Johnston’s upbringing, how he met Vince McMahon and his creative process.

CB’s Slant: This was an incredibly fascinating interview with one of WWE’s true unsung heroes. Johnston is just as important to the fabric of the WWE and its superstars as anyone else who has worked behind the scenes in the company’s history, and the fact that he wrote, composed and delivered Austin’s iconic “broken glass” theme music after about 8 hours of total work is simply astounding when you think about the impact it had on Austin’s career and the entire Attitude era.

For me, this interview was one of those things that gave me a more complete picture of the man behind the music, and I think it is a must-listen for anyone who has been a pro wrestling fan over the past few decades.
