Since the end of Age of Ultron. Marvel’s multiverse has been fluid with plans to editorially destroy and rebuild the Ultimate Universe. Marvel’s April 2014 solicitations include three new Ultimate Comics series.
SPOILERS for Cataclysm The Ultimates Last Stand #5 follow.
In addition to Kitty Pryde’s actions to open the issue, as revealed in the spoilery free preview of this issue, the book ends with Ultimate Mister Fantastic attempting to trap Galactus in the Negative Zone where he would supposedly starve and die. Ultimate Thor also returns to help trap Galactus.
Mister Fantastic is firm and Ultimate Iron Man struggles with what do next. In the end, they decide Thor willingly made a sacrifice and both Thor and Galactus are trapped in the Negative Zone sparing Ultimate Earth from destruction.
Cataclysm The Ultimates Last Stand #5 ends with a look to the future by the world’s remaining heroes. It sure looks like the X-Men’s Storm will become the new Ultimate Captain America after the original Cap died in Cataclysm #4. She sports the iconic shield in the book’s last two pages.
