10 Thoughts On… Bitten – Episode 8

10 Thoughts, Reviews, Top Story

1. This episode was completely different than the ones that have aired before it. To be honest, I prefer the faster-paced episodes as this one was more character-driven and was designed to humanize Clay. While Cain’s death was used as a plot device to show Clay why he had choices other than biting Elena, I would have preferred if Clay and Cain had simply battled instead of the slow-paced inquisition.

2. What I did like about the episode was how it established Nick as the new enforcer of The Pack. Steve Lund has done a fantastic job at portraying the different layers of “Little Nicky.” When we first met the promiscuous character in the season premiere, Nick seemed like a bumbling clown. With each episode he has matured and with his father’s death, it seems like he is now ready to be the heavy hand that is needed to protect Stonehaven.

3. While Phillip and Sylvie were not featured in this week’s episode as heavily as they were last week, their chemistry is probably my favourite part of the show right now. I am sure the show’s casting directors must have had a tough time picking anyone who could rival Laura Vandervoort as an alternate love interest for Paul Green, but they did a wonderful job with Natalie Lisinksa.

4. Want to hear my dream Bitten scenario? I want Elena and Sylvie to fight over Phillip and during the catfight/wolf fight, Elena bites Sylvie resulting in Sylvie becoming a wolf and staying on the show even longer. Make it happen!

5. I definitely missed creepy Daniel Santos this week. I actually prefer him as the show’s primary antagonist over Karl Marsten.

6. How great was it to see Joey Jeremiah / Pat Mastroianni from Degrassi in a cameo?

7. While I sing Greg Bryk’s praises every week, I learned in this episode that I prefer him as the dominant alpha instead of the feeble and sickly patient. I am glad he was cured by the end of the episode. Also, how great was his line to Elena after she gave him the blood transfusion? “We’re the same.” Yes. Yes, you are.

8. That love scene between Nick and the random co-worker was one of the hottest on Bitten this season. I think the only one that was better was in the flashback when Elena and Clay first hooked up.

9. I didn’t miss Logan this week. The pregnancy storyline doesn’t really do it for me. With that said, I think business is about to pick up. In tonight episode, it seemed to me like Phillip was apprehensive about Elena possibly having an affair with her shrink and running partner.

10. The cinematography was stellar this week. I especially liked the blood scrubbing opening. Very well shot.
