Will Chope has found himself on his way out of Brazil and unemployed, apparently, as a history of domestic violence came out right before the fight aturday.
The decision to cancel, first reported by Ivan Raupp of Globo.com, came after a Bleacher Report MMA story on Saturday night revealed disturbing details about Chope’s past.
Chope’s removal is interesting because he’s not the only person convicted of domestic abuse on the UFC roster. Abel Trujillo has been convicted of it twice and still finds his way on the active UFC roster. The UFC has been fairly erratic in its handling of those on its roster convicted of the crime. Brett Rogers, former Strikeforce heavyweight title contender, found himself removed Zuffa employ after his own domestic abuse case. Chope is now gone and yet Trujillo remains.
Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is four years removed from charges of his own and is making his return to the UFC after a substantial run in the company during the time he was convicted, as well.
Brandao will be getting his show and win money per Jeremy Botter of Bleacher Report.
Not only is the UFC paying Brandao his show and win money, but they’re working on getting him an opponent for an April card.
