CB’s WrestleMania 30 Match Preview: The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar, Otherwise Known as THE STREAK vs. THE BEAST

News, Top Story

The Undertaker has given us some brilliant matches at WrestleMania over the past few years, with a little bit of help from Shawn Michaels, Triple H and CM Punk, of course.

This year, however, The Phenom takes on Brock Lesnar in a showdown of THE STREAK vs. THE BEAST that has been promoted in underwhelming fashion to say the least.

In my opinion, WWE missed out on a golden opportunity to book Lesnar as a legitimate threat to THE STREAK. Rather than Taker getting the upper hand at the contract signing and then doing the casket trick to “get in Brock’s head” again, I thought that Lesnar should have been the one to totally destroy The Undertaker at every turn both mentally and physically.

The F-5 that Lesnar hit Taker with on Raw this week was a little too little, too late for my taste, and as a result this match has absolutely no juice to it and that is a real shame considering what could have been.

I would have preferred to see a different kind of buildup, one that addressed their infamous staredown at UFC 121 and maybe addressed some of the “personal” issues that Lesnar and The Undertaker have had over the years.

Instead, this story has clearly been written in the character of The Undertaker’s wheelhouse, and while the outcome was always inevitable I feel like the “how they get there” portion is severely lacking especially when compared with the past few years.
