WWE’s “WrestleMania XXX” Line Of Action Figures Reviewed (w/Photos)

Features, Top Story

wwe_wrestlemania_30_logo WrestleMania 30 is tomorrow night and unless you’ve been held up in your home watching the festivities night and day on the WWE Network, I’m sure you’ve seen how the WWE and WrestleMania have taken over retailers everywhere. These aren’t just your typical, next in line series figures either. All are exclusive to the WrestleMania XXX event, featuring past & current performers both in their current looks or iconic moments in WrestleMania history. Let’s start from the Basic and work our way up to the Elite.

           WrestleMania XXX Basic Line featuring

The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, The Rock & John Cena

WM30 Basics

– Featuring four of WrestleMania 29’s main eventers, these figures are featured in the attires they wore for last year’s big event. This is most noticeable on The Undertaker figure as his left leg displays the urn tribute to the late Paul Bearer who passed away last year right before WrestleMania. Undertaker has only worn this gear once and it can only be found on this figure as well as the hard to find Elite #27 Undertaker. The other figure that really stands out is, ironically, of The Undertaker’s opponent this year, Brock Lesnar. Lesnar’s face mold has been updated for the first time since his return with his signature “beast incarnate” yell to complement his MMA-styled shorts and gloves. I can only assume this is the face mold Brock Lesnar figures will be featuring in the future but this very well may be the first.

WrestleMania XXX Fantasy Battle Packs featuring

Sheamus vs Ultimate Warrior & Brock Lesnar vs Batista

WM30 Battle Packs

– The second set is sure to have caught your eye in the store. Showcasing two “Fantasy Matchups”, Mattel has bundled 2014 Hall Of Fame Inductee The Ultimate Warrior with the “Celtic Warrior” himself, Sheamus. Warrior’s paint, hair style and gear are all very early-WWF Ultimate Warrior while Sheamus is about as up-to-date as possible. While the Ultimate Warrior figure is unique in how toned down he is, Sheamus is sporting the “happy-go-lucky” smile we’ve seen on recent figures and doesn’t gel well when paired with an intense Warrior. On the other side, the second “Fantasy Matchup” 2-pack is spot on and could actually become a reality. Featuring a retro Brock Lesnar from his debut & a Batista from when he left the WWE in 2010, these two are definite collectibles. This is the first retro Brock Lesnar from Mattel that isn’t an online exclusive and that tidbit alone should be enough for you to pick up the set. The Batista figure included is similar to a couple Mattel release before his departure from the WWE in 2010. He has the full-sleeve tattoos unlike earlier figures but it seems like he’s added a little more artwork before his most recent return in January. Either way, this is the most current Batista figure released and definitely a smart choice to pair with the old school Lesnar.

WrestleMania XXX Flashback Elite Figures featuring

Shawn Michaels & Bret “The Hitman” Hart

WM30 Elite – Finally we have my two favorites in the WrestleMania XXX line, Elite Flashback figures for Hall Of Famers Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. I know when I’m looking at Elite figures, I’m looking for two things: detail and props. And Mattel definitely didn’t short change anyone here. Michaels is featured in what was originally supposed to be his retirement gear from WrestleMania 14. Michaels had a broken back and although riding high with DX, his back forced him to lose the WWF Championship to Stone Cold Steve Austin and not lace up his wrestling boots for another 4 years. This figure captures everything from that night (except for maybe the look of agonizing pain Shawn was in). Complete with Heartbreak Kid chain mail chaps and “dX” plastered all over his tights, Mattel was also able to capture the degenerate scowl Michaels seemed to always have during this time frame. The Bret Hart figure although is no less its equal. Representing his two match night at WrestleMania 10, Hart looks like a basic figure but is anything but. Complete with his signature shades, “The Hitman” also comes with the famed “Winged Eagle” WWF Championship belt he won that very night from Yokozuna. The belt itself is beautifully detailed and both it & the figure would be a great addition into any collection.

Well unfortunately that’s all I have for you right now. Sooner than later I’ll be reviewing the new line of Slam City products, which I highly suggest watching the shorts on WWE Network if you haven’t already. Until then though, enjoy WrestleMania and don’t miss out on picking up a few of these figures before they’re gone for good.
