Murtz On The Scene: Big Brother Canada 2 – Day After Season Finale Interview With Neda Kalantar

The day after Jon Pardy was named the winner of Big Brother Canada 2, I headed back to the backyard to do extended interviews with the entire cast. The interview that I was looking the most forward to (could you tell by my t-shirt?) was my in-depth discussion with Jury Member #6, Neda Kalantar. While I had already talked to her immediately after the finale, I was looking forward to her analysis of the entire season in more detail. With that said, the fact that I even have to refer to her as a jury member upsets me, as there is no doubt that Neda was the best player this season.

After a quick plug for Neda’s t-shirt line Blk & Saint, I dove into the plethora of questions that I had for her. We started by figuring out went wrong. It was pretty much assumed that May 9 2014 would be the coronation of Queen Neda and when Jon evicted her, the shock almost seemed palpable. I told Neda that I talked to her sister just before the finale began and told her that I had absolutely no doubt that Neda would be the winner. In every possible scenario, I had Neda walking away with the $100,000 prize:

1. Neda wins the final HOH and evicts Jon, easily winning the jury vote over Sabrina.
2. Neda wins the final HOH and evicts Sabrina, earning the respect of the jury to go against her toughest competition in the Final 2.
3. Sabrina wins the final HOH and takes Neda, basically writing Kalantar’s cheque for her.
4. Jon wins the final HOH and takes Neda, giving fans of the show the storybook ending that they wanted, but allowing Neda to narrowly win the title she craved by a very narrow margin.

You will notice that the thought of Jon double-crossing Neda never even entered the realm of possibility for me and that’s why I took Thursday’s result as hard as I did. In any event, Neda and I also talked about her overestimating Jon’s loyalty to her and how he was able to beat her in two end game trivia competitions. I told Neda that while I thought she played a near-perfect game, the only time she seemed to stumble was when she was on the outside of the vote that sent Paul home and how this compares to other BB greats like Dr. Will Kirby and Danielle Reyes who basically had the game in the palm of their hands from start to finish.

I asked Neda who was responsible for the creation of the Sloppy Seconds alliance, her or Adel and she seemed surprised that I thought it was Adel (which I did after his interview). I asked her if being a superfan of the show helped or hurt her in the game and we ended the interview with the question that every fan of the show wants the answer to.

What is it?
