CB’s Slant: All Hail Renee Young, the Unsung Hero of WWE and NXT

Columns, Top Story

At the NXT Takeover live special Thursday 5/29/14, Charlotte and Nattie shined, Sami Zayn and Tyler Breeze stole the show, and Adrian Neville vs. Tyson Kidd capped off a great night of wrestling.

However, there is also one other woman who absolutely stood out during the night, and that woman is Renee Young.

On the NXT Takeover pre- and post-shows, Renee Young seamlessly ran through each segment while holding her own with the likes of Paul Heyman and Christian. She was passionate, charming, cool and calm, and it made me think about just how valuable Young is to the entire presentation of the NXT and WWE products.

When an announcer or backstage interviewer first arrives, things can fall off the rails very quickly.

Case and point – Mike Adamle:

That being said, Renee Young has been awesome from the beginning, and whether she is joining the Adam Rose party or holding her own with Heyman, she is simply a consummate professional.

So on this day, I’d like to say “All hail Renee Young!” Charlotte may be the queen of NXT, but Young has become the true measuring stick for all non-wrestling personalities who keep things moving right along like they should.

That’s all from me – CB.
