At WWE Payback 6/1/14, Stephanie McMahon confronted Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella like she promised. However, when Daniel Bryan was about to surrender the titles, Brie Bella stepped in and told Stephanie that she quit. Brie Bella then slapped the taste out of Stephanie’s mouth and McMahon ran to the back as Bryan and Brie celebrated with the Chicago crowd.
Therefore, Daniel Bryan is still the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Also of note, during this exchange, a loud CM Punk chant broke out. Stephanie then said to Bryan it’s time to quit just like CM Punk did. Obviously, Bryan did not listen to that advice.
