DC Comics’ New 52 Futures End #8 Spoilers & Review: Masked Superman Makes An Impact While Batman Beyond Is MIA

We continue to chug away to September 2014 and DC Comics’ 41 title New 52 Futures End 3D cover month and 5 year line-wide leap forward, the weekly series’ eighth issue hits stands today.

Before I get to my capsule review and spoilers, let’s get you caught up on Futures End so far:

Spoilers and capsule review follow for The New 52 Futures End #8.

The free preview to the issue revealed more about the Deathstroke / Slade Wilson subplot. Did I miss something at the end of the Team 7 New 52 series? Why doesn’t Slade Wilson remember that he teamed up with Cole Cash / Grifter on Team 7?

The preview also advances the Lois Lane subplot as she heads to where a clue leads her middle of nowhere at seas?

In the actual book, the Firestorm subplot and the Masked Superman subplot intersect over the Justice League needing Firestorm and curiosity / concern about why a teleporter is being built (despite the experiment failing spectacularly).

Dr. Ray Palmer and his team found the murdered Stormwatch members, but two may still be alive from the recently un-rebooted version of the team! Palmer also helps Frankenstein get a new arm since Black Adam ripped out the old one in the Phantom Zone.

With Hawkman’s arm, does that mean that Frankenstein will be imbedded by the all-powerful Nth Metal?

The book ends with the strange character from the cover of The New 52 Futures End #8 battling soldiers and unsettling John Constantine!

I have no idea who that metallic character is; perhaps a hybrid between Amazo, OMAC and Brainiac? I’m deriving the first and last from the look of the character first and secondly the look at the hieroglyphs. Perhaps its a techno-organic Parasite as one reader mused last week.

Overall, another solid issue with a lot going on story wise and great art too!

Thanks for reading. All feedback welcome.
