DC Comics’ The New 52 Futures End #10 Spoilers & Review: Masked Superman Vs & Batman Beyond Share Spotlight

News, Spoilers, Top Story

We continue to chug away to September 2014 and DC Comics’ 41 title New 52 Futures End 3D cover month and 5 year line-wide leap forward, the weekly series’ tenth issue hits stands last week.

Before I get to my capsule review and spoilers for New 52 Futures End #10, let’s get you caught up on this series so far:

Spoilers and capsule review follow for The New 52 Futures End #10.

Like with previous previews by DC Comics, last week’s FREE-for-readers preview reveals the Masked Superman and Lois Lane subplots converging. That is one angry and aggressive Man of Steel!

When we get into the actual issue, we see Terry McGinnis sans Batman Beyond pointy ears in Tim Drake (formerly Red Robin’s) pub. He’s joined Coil, The Key and Plastique who we wants to assist in their break-in on Mister Terrific’s company. Terry / Batman Beyond has his own agenda.

Terry McGinnis dispatches a mouth Key while Tim Drake looks on leading to a pretty cool confrontation between the two.

My prediction from last issue came true with Hawkman’s arm re-growing due to the Nth Metal in his body. That provides an interesting subplot as Frankenstein still has Hawkman’s arm attached his body; does Frankenstein wield the power of Nth Metal too? Plus another Stormwatch member is alive!

Plus, like with DC editorial forgetting that Deathstroke and Grifter were members of Team 7 earlier in the New 52, the same Futures End editorial forgot that Hawkman’s wing sprout from his body due to the Nth Metal. They don’t attach and detach the way they did pre New 52.

After last issue’s reveal of Cadmus Island’s Earth 2 prison, including New God Mister Miracle, this issue sees Green Arrow’s Emiko recruit New God Big Barda – Mister Miracle partner and probable-wife – in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Earth 2 prison break coming?

Overall, I am enjoying Futures End. The slight moments of sloppy editing doesn’t distract wholly from the art or narrative. There is a lot going on this weekly series, but it seems that the mysteries are deepening, the subplots are progressing and we’re getting more Masked Superman and Batman Beyond. A fun read week in and week out.

Like in previous issues we get a look at the next issue; this week’s New 52 Futures End #11 and the Justice League of five years in the future!

Thanks for reading. All feedback welcome.
