One of television’s biggest shows left its fans in a tizzy with a season finale that left fans dying to know how things will play out when the show returns this Fall.
The Vampire Diaries ended its fifth season finale with Bonnie & Damon holding heads as their impending deaths seemed like an almost certainty.
TVLine recently interviewed the show’s executive producer, Julie Plec, to get an update on the cliffhanger and to see where the show is headed as we approach its sixth season.
Plec revealed that the place where Bonnie and Damon are headed is “not torturous, but it’s by no means a roller coaster ride of fun.” She described it as a bit of an “existential experience.”
Just like fans of the series, the producer said that the characters will also be asking many questions.
“They’ll be asking a lot of questions, along with the audience, including: What’s going on? Where the hell are we? And how do we get home?”
Plec did confirm that the characters are not ‘dead, per se.’
In addition, Plec responded to the rumours that Elena would die to be with Damon.
“I’ll just say that I think it’d be super sad for a young woman in her vibrant, early years to take her life and die on the sword for the love of a man. As much as I am a romantic and believe in true love, I also believe in therapy and trying to pull yourself together and getting on with your life.”
