At Wednesday’s press conference ahead of his showdown with Daniel “The Real Deal” Geale, the undefeated WBA Super World / IBO middleweight champion Gennady “GGG’ Golovkin said that he wasn’t taking his opponent for granted.
“He is a good fighter, firstly,” he outlined. “I think this is an interesting fight for us, for the people, and for everybody because he has a lot (on the line) for this fight. He is ready, I saw him, he’s serious. He understands this business.”
Golovkin (29-0, 26 KOs) is riding an unbelievable 17-fight knockout streak and is already being touted as one of the most dominant middleweights in history. Even with that stunning record, the knockout specialist refused to guarantee a victory on Saturday against Geale (30-2, 16 KOs).
Asked by FightNews to make a prediction, Golovkin said simply, “I can’t, I can’t, this is boxing, I don’t know, this is boxing.”
