Kurt Angle’s contract with TNA Wrestling is up on September 21, 2014 and he has indicated that he is open to returning to WWE or TNA.

Angle believes his next contract will be his last major full time wrestling contract, so he has gone on record that he wants to keep his options open. This is all but saying that he wants to return to WWE. The question is more whether WWE would take him back.

The first obstacle would be whether or not Kurt could pass a WWE physical, something that Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash have failed to do in recent years upon returning from TNA.

However, an even bigger obstacle is Vince McMahon, who in the past has been extremely negative on the idea of bringing Kurt back. Vince is worried that Kurt would die or be maimed, which would reflect badly on WWE if he were under current WWE contract.

While many decisions these days are for HHH/Paul Levesque to make, the decision as to whether bring back Kurt Angle is reported to be 100% a Vince Call.

Another interesting option is the Jeff Jarrett GWF situation. Despite “nuclear heat” in the past between Jarrett and Angle, Jarrett is said to be very high on Kurt and would pay him big money to be a headliner if that promotion got off the ground.

Recently Angle was on a flight where WWE writers were also flying, and saw Angle passed out. This apparently was bad for his reputation within WWE management. It got to a point where Angle had to address the situation on Twitter:
Rumors are the root of evil. The truth will endure. Here is the truth! I’m excited to say I’m coming up on my one year anniversary of being clean and sober. I’m very humbled. God has truly blessed me. It’s been a difficult but exciting road to living alcohol/drug free. Then some heartless individuals want to create rumors of me `passed out’ on a plane. Wow, I guess you can’t take a nap on a plane when you’re a recovering addict. But it only makes me want to stay clean even more!!!

Angle is currently the on-air TNA authority figure, but that could change at the upcoming TNA NYC TV tapings, especially if he hasn’t signed a new deal by then.
