There are great casting choices and there are perfect casting choice. File this one in the latter category.
Former Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker has joined the cast of The Blacklist according to creator Jon Bokenkamp who talked about the new addition at Comic-Con on Saturday.
The more interesting news is who Parker will play as Deadline reports that her character will be “completely tied to Reddington.”
Since the announcement, speculation has run rampant that Parker’s character could be related to Elizabeth (Megan Boone), and from there, it doesn’t take a TV fan too long to make the connection that Parker could perhaps play Elizabeth’s mother. Unfortunately, Bokenkamp wouldn’t reveal anymore details.
“The question of who is Reddington to Elizabeth Keen is the central conceit to the show, but we’re really not going to answer that,” he said.
James Spader was also on hand to preview the new season.
“The second season I think portends even more as the show sort of blew up at the end of the season and allowed the second season to become more expansive,” James Spader said. “We start to learn little bit more about Reddington and his mythological history.”
