Wanderlei Silva Still Wants To Settle The Score With Chael Sonnen; Thinks Fight Will Happen Despite Sonnen’s 2-Year Suspension

Wanderlei Silva remains optimistic that he will get his shot at Chael Sonnen.

The pair were supposed to fight at UFC 175 earlier this month, but both have had their own problem with making the fight happen.

Recently, the Nevada Athletic Commission suspended Sonnen for two years after failing back-to-back drug tests. Silva allegedly fled from an official who was sent to him to obtain a sample. While he also appeared before the NAC in June, no ruling on his punishment was made.

For what it is worth and with his fighting status , Wanderlei Silva remains hopeful he’ll get a chance to settle the score with Chael Sonnen in the Octagon.

“I think he retired just for now, I think after finishing his suspension, he’s gonna (come) back,” Silva told Submission Radio. “I hope this fight is gonna happen.”

The fight not being scheduled did not prevent Silva from still trashing his perspective opponent.

“”He (Chael Sonnen) has just one way to fight, just take down then on the top of the ground. And for me, I try to knock out, you know. I like to fight (in the) stand up and that what was happen. I’m gonna try to knock him out, he would try and hold me the whole round.”

He did admit, however, that the black eye that the failed drug tests have put on the sport aren’t good for anybody.

“Yeah this is bad for everyone, bad for him, bad for me, bad for the fans who want so much that fight,” said Silva. “But I’m gonna (be) waiting for him.”
