If Oliver wants to be with Felicity on The CW’s Arrow, he will have to win over her mom and given his track record with relationships, we’re not so sure he can.
According to TVGuide.com, NYPD Blue vet Charlotte Ross has landed the role of Felicity’s mom, however it is unknown whether her guest starring stint will include her appearing in the current storylines or simply in flashbacks.
As revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, the fifth episode of Season 3, titled “Oracle,” will shed light on Felicity’s unexplored past, including her time at MIT. With Arrow returning Oct. 8, that places the flashback episode at the start of November sweeps.
In season two, it was revealed that Felicity was abandoned by her father at a young age and has a high level of respect for her mom, with whom she shares a special closeness. “If I had accepted things, I would be a cocktail waitress in Vegas like my mother and I never would have gone to college and I never would have moved a thousand miles away to work at Queen Consolidated,” she said.
EP Marc Guggenheim told TVLine that they have had a backstory in place for Felicity for the last few seasons but have never had the chance to do it.
“We have had a backstory for [Felicity] for over a year now that we keep saying, ‘This is the episode where we’re going to do it,’ and we don’t,” exec producer Marc Guggenheim told TVLine. “But this is the year we’re going to do it.”
