UFC Signs Undefeated New Heavyweight Joshua “Cuddly Bear” Copeland

News, Top Story

With Brock Lesnar active with WWE and current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez desperately seeking new challengers, Ultimate Fighting Championship has come to terms with RFA heavyweight champion Joshua Copeland.

The signing was made official with Copeland being added to UFC’s website roster.

Known by his popular “Cuddly Bear” moniker, Copeland is a 31-year old Grudge Training Center fighter who has trained alongside Justin Salas, Justin Gaethje, Neil Magny, and Brendan Schaub among others. While Copeland doesn’t have many notable big wins on his record, his victory over fellow prospect Jesse Hernandez was pretty decent.

BloodyElbow.com describes Copeland as:

“…a legit plus athlete as a heavyweight. He’s light on his feet, darts in and out of range well, and has the kind of naturally large frame that carries a lot of muscle with ease. Surprisingly for a guy who appears to have come to fighting late, he boxes exceptionally well on the inside, at times reminiscent of Daniel Cormier for his mix of speed, power, and raw aggression when throwing hands.”
