Shannon Briggs Cannot Fight Alex Leapai Because Of Injuries Suffered In Restaurant Brawl

While Shannon Briggs interrupted Wladimir Klitschko’s dinner a week ago, it appears he is only now receiving his just desserts.

The American heavyweight was negotiating a match with Alex Leapai through Leapai’s coach Noel Thornberry prior to his decision to interrupt Wladimir Klitschko’s dinner. The resulting brawl resulted in Briggs receiving stitches for cuts on his hands and feet and these injuries prevent him from the match with Leapai.

Thornberry said it won’t affect Leapai with another opponent set to be announced by the end of the week.

“It is not going to affect us, Alex is back on track and we are looking to get something sorted this week,” he said.

“Shannon said he is still eager to fight Alex but it will have to be next year.”
